Rates and Fees
Most household purging jobs I take on are paid for entirely off of commissions - meaning you end up making money off of hiring me, if you have enough stuff of value to sell.
I generally charge a $50-150 upfront retainer fee to take on a new client to help ensure my upfront costs of listing fees and mileage are covered. This fee gets applied towards the commissions I earn on selling your stuff, and most of my clients end up having the retainer fee wash out in the end.
My fees cover all of the following:
- Onsite home visit of 4-6 hours to help you sort through your 'stuff' and determine what has value and what should be donated, as well as develop a game plan for larger liquidations.
- Storing of your items in my office to prepare them for selling (meaning, you get rid of some your clutter immediately after my site visit!)
- Researching of the items to be sold.
- Basic cleaning up of the items to prepare them for sale.
- Photographing of the items using my photo studio.
- Writing ads.
- Management of listings on eBay/Amazon/Craigslist/Local Classifieds sites.
- Communication with potential buyers.
- Packaging & shipping.
- After sales customer support.
- Handling donating of items that don't sell, and providing you with a receipt for your taxes.

Any fees due eBay/Amazon for listings, final value transaction fee and PayPal fees also come out of the net due the client, and shipping costs are usually covered by the buyer of the item. And I apply your upfront retainer at a rate of 25% towards the commissions I earn. For larger items that I can't transport or store at my location, they will stay on your property and I will just charge a flat rate listing fee to manage the advertising of the item, and will pass to you serious potential buyers.
